Home made conserves with very interesting ingredients, Kumquats, limes, ginger, and Whisky, yum ! Fresh potted medicinal herbs, locally made sausages and cheeses to name but a few things that were available.
The children from the village school along with some of the older generation plaited ' Lata' Palm leaves for basket weaving, Donkey rides, street roving musicians. Dancers gave a show of traditional dancing in the square, wearing the most beautiful of costumes.
The village band did a tour of the village playing there popular music. They end in with in the square and as usual after eating and drinking their fill entertained everyone with a fun and impromptu concert of lively music trying to out play each other.
The day was full of smells, tastes, dancing and music for all tastes, one artist ( Willy ) from Val d'ebo was moved to sit and paint some of the sights and colours of it all.
The walking season is now underway in the mountains. With well marked routes from the village it is possible to walk for several hours seeing no more the a farmer or two, collecting Olives for the delicious Olive Oil or sat under a tree enjoying the winter sunshine. Soon they will be pruning the Almond trees. The blossoming of which will be late February.
A round trip walk to the famous Arches / Els Arcs will take about 3 / 4 hours, from the village.
With the new road open we are now only 20 minutes or so from Jalon.
